Oregon's Agency and Representation Model

Oregon · State License Law — free study notes for the real estate licensing exam.

🏛️ State License Law 📍 Oregon

📖 What you need to know

Oregon recognizes several representation relationships: a buyer's agent, a seller's agent, and a 'disclosed limited agent' who represents both parties (or both a buyer and seller working with the same brokerage) once written informed consent is obtained. Licensees must provide the state's Initial Agency Disclosure Pamphlet at first contact, before showing property or discussing confidential matters. In a disclosed limited agency, the agent owes duties to both clients but may not disclose one party's confidential information (such as bottom-line price) to the other without permission. All agency relationships and the duties they create must be clearly explained and documented.
