Virginia Escrow Funds and License Renewal Requirements

🏛️ State License Law 📍 Virginia

📖 What you need to know

Virginia brokers must deposit client and customer money, such as earnest money deposits, into a separate escrow account and may not commingle those funds with the broker's own operating money. Virginia is not a community property state, so spousal property interests follow common-law and title rules rather than community property. For a salesperson's first renewal, Virginia requires completion of a 30-hour post-license education program in addition to keeping the license active under a supervising broker.
