Regulator: Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).
Pre-license education: 180 classroom hours of qualifying courses for a sales agent.
A sales agent must be sponsored by an active Texas broker to perform brokerage acts.
Continuing education: 18 hours each renewal cycle, including the 4-hour TREC Legal Update I and 4-hour Legal Update II.
License renewal occurs every two years through TREC.
First renewal of a sales agent license requires additional SAE (Sales Agent Apprentice Education) qualifying coursework.
Education and sponsorship requirements are set and enforced by TREC.
